HOW TO INFER THE "QURAN":
The narratives of “Quran” are not stories they are portrayals in anthropomorphic theophanic format or structure. The narrations or structure of the 114 chapter book is similar to that of script writing or Aesop's fables, where we have many roles represented by depicting fictional characters to convey a much vibrant message than the characters of the story itself. The characters of the "Quran" are not fictional but they are abstract functions or sense, so the need of the portrayals to represent their actual role or function in our lives. The main aim of the author of the "Quran" is to inculcate the importance of these senses or functions by means of these stories as to awaken our dormant faculties to speak to us through the make up characters of these stories. This type of writing format was in vogue in those days. All old scriptures or stories were written in this type of format. The spirit of such writings is to represent the abstract facts / feelings by characterizing them in forms so that it becomes easy for the readers to understand its essence.
The main audiences of the "Quran" are the readers who must feel the characters functioning (speaking, warning, attacking, defending, informing, assuring, healing, tempting) within themselves. Man is a sentient being, which means those who are able to perceive or feel things. Those who feel or realize that these characters are functioning in them for such people the story of the "Quran" is a blessing and its characters are the source of healing from stress, depression, fear, phobias, peer pressure and many other mental illness. In short for them the book Quran is full of wisdom. And those who see these characters as physical realities they search for them in history and geography.
The foremost motive behind such writings is to educate the reader about some complex psychological subject or matter in an easy and enchanting manner, even understandable to a layman. Each and every character of 114 chapter book is actually Ayats (symbols which represents meaningful signs or give clue). Ayats are always valid and they are always in present or alive they cannot be dead or thing of the past. These depicted characters are Ayats present in our psyche (Nafs).
But sadly we made those characters either most reverend personalities or most hateful personalities. We have personified Allah, Shaitaan, Malaikah, Rasul, Firaun etc as human beings or physical personalities. But the fact is that nobody can see them as they are feelings which has to be experienced. Actually these are the main characters functioning in the story of Mankind (Adam). Until this concept of the "Quran" is not clear we won't be able to understand the "Quran" and we will be deprived of its healing qualities.
When we don’t have a correct perception about the book, we tend to rely on our ancestor’s tales and beliefs to understand that book - “even though their ancestors did not understand anything nor were they guided” - (2:170). Understanding the theme, the subject and the purpose of any book is very important. The theme and subject of the book is more important then understanding the nuance of the grammar of the language in which the book is written. The "Quran" often stress that the narrations are examples or a set up (مثال) but we believe it as the factual account of the past. Even though the "Quran" clearly states that " they are mere examples" or set up for explaining purpose.
We blindly believe in the stories of imaginary personalities created only for the purpose of providing illustrious examples to facilitate easy learning. But unfortunately we have taken the examples literary or as facts of history. The problem is we want to extract lessons from the ancient histories whose records are doubtful. We behave as if we don't have the ability to unlearn and consecutively learn from the current events and we believe the “holy book” is our sole guide even though its language is not articulate ?
The message of the noble "Quran" is vibrant, full of energy but unfortunately we want to follow stories of the personalities assumed as holy which are actually not personalities but Ayaats within and around us. The message of the noble "Quran" is ALIVE and so are the Messengers. Rasuls, Kitabs are all Ayats within us as well as around us. They are meant to be heeded by Mutaqi (those who are diligent) in our day to day life.
